Welcome to the crazy world of being a mompreneur, where finding time for self-care can be as elusive as finding the time to take a shower. But let’s face it, if you’re running a business and managing a family, taking care of yourself is essential. When balancing all of the things on your to-do list, you may sarcastically wonder “what is self care for a mompreneur?” so I’m going to share twenty-three different ways to maintain self-care when you’re busy building an empire and raising a family.
1. Wake Up Early
Wake up early – this is the perfect time to fit in some alone time before the chaos of the day ensues. Take some time for meditation or journaling, or just enjoy a hot cup of coffee in peace.
Getting up before your kids is going to be the most peaceful way to create time for yourself and feel productive.
2. Exercise
Exercise – whether it’s going to the gym or just taking a walk around the block, exercise is a great way to take care of your body and clear your mind.
As we know, exercise has a way of clearing your mindscape to open yourself up for creative flows.
3. Get Dressed Up
Get dressed up – just because you work from home doesn’t mean you can’t put on your favorite outfit and feel good about yourself.
Getting dressed up helps you to feel like your most confident self!
4. Take Breaks
Take breaks – stepping away from your work for a few minutes can help you clear your mind and recharge.
Think about it: we only have about four productive hours in a day. Spend the hours you’re not in flow taking care of yourself and setting yourself up for your next creative flow.
5. Connect With Other Mompreneurs
Connect with other mom entrepreneurs – talking to other moms who are going through the same thing can be a huge source of support.
In my new book, I share some of my favorite ways to find a room that will motivate you, or to create a room that will inspire you.
6. Take A Long, Relaxing Bath
Take a long, relaxing bath – make some time for a bath with a glass of wine and some candles.
7. Get a Massage or Facial
Get a massage or facial – pampering yourself every now and then can do wonders for your mental health.
8. Treat Yourself to a Nice Meal
Treat yourself to a nice meal – indulge in your favorite meal or order takeout from that restaurant you’ve been wanting to try.
9. Read a Book
Read a book – take some time to lose yourself in a good book.

10. Listen to Music
Listen to music – crank up your favorite tunes and dance like nobody’s watching.
11. Take a Nap
Take a nap – sometimes, all you need is a quick nap to recharge.
12. Practice Gratitude
Practice gratitude – take some time to focus on the things you’re thankful for.
13. Journal
Write in a journal – writing down your thoughts can be a great way to clear your mind.
It’s part of my self-care routine to journal every morning before I start the day. This helps put my mind in the right headspace to feel inspired to create, overcome issues that may have risen, and organize and deconstruct my thoughts.
14. Get Outside
Get out in nature – spending time outside can be a great way to get some fresh air and clear your mind.
Taking a 15 minute walk can do wonders!
15. Get Creative
Create something – take some time to work on a craft or hobby that you enjoy.
Try painting, pottery, drawing, quilting, dancing, music, or that special something you’ve been dreaming about creating space to do.
16. Sleep Well
Get a good night’s sleep – getting enough rest is crucial for maintaining good mental health.
17. Get Your Water In
Drink plenty of water – staying hydrated is important for your physical and mental well-being.
18. Unplug From Technology
Take a technology break – unplugging from your devices can help you stay present and focused.
You may have heard in my podcast episodes on The Making Mommy Moves Show that I love to hide my phone on myself so that I can avoid the habit of picking my phone out of my pocket.
19. Make Yourself Laugh
Laugh – laughter is the best medicine, so watch a funny movie or TV show, or hang out with friends who make you laugh.
20. Get Grounded
Practice mindfulness – mindfulness techniques can help you stay grounded and present in the moment.
21. Attend Events
Attend a workshop or retreat – taking some time away from your day-to-day routine can be refreshing and inspiring.
22. Get Out Of Your Comfort Zone
Try something new – stepping outside of your comfort zone and trying something new can be exhilarating.
23. Delegate
Hire help – outsourcing tasks that are overwhelming can help take some of the burden off of you.
A Healthy Mind and Body
Now, it’s important to remember that self-care isn’t just about doing things for yourself, but also about taking care of your mental health. Remember to set boundaries, practice self-compassion, and prioritize your needs.
